The title of "Most Disappointing Team" in the ACC probably resides in Tallahassee after Florida State's fall from preseason favorite to 6-6 straggler, but N.C. State fans have plenty of ammunition to make their own case: The Wolfpack opened the season as a darkhorse to take the Atlantic Division after a strong finish in 2008, and closed just one game out of the division cellar. As it turns out, the wretched offense and resilient defense on display in the nationally televised, 7-3 loss to South Carolina in the season opener couldn't have been farther from the eventual narrative -- the offense scrambled frantically to overcome the porous D in every other game for the rest of the season -- but it did accurately convey the season's overriding theme: Whatever its virtues, N.C. State just isn't very good.

State wasn't very good

since the article appears to have been written in mid December, the last sentense above should have been that State just wasn’t very good as opposed to State just isn’t very good. the season is over for State. Nice article though.

Pretty much the same thing we said here repeatedly

Analyze it how you want – it’s just a bad football team.

But in true NC State fan fashion…. WTNY!!!! (although I have no idea why the defense will be one iota better)
