Maryland 38, NC State 31
I don't really know what to say at this point. It's never surprising anymore--how could it be? But the disappointment, the anger, the frustration...they're always independent of expectation. I felt good about today. After the first quarter, I even let myself think it might be easy.
I should have guessed that another second-quarter lull was in order, this one a near-total collapse that completely turned the game around for Maryland. The offense sputtered; Jeff Ruiz shanked a punt; we had a field goal blocked. The defense did pretty well under the circumstances but was put in a bad spot too many times. These things have come to define this team.
Who's ready for the Champs Sports Bowl? I hear the Big East is really compelling this year.

while i am very disappointed (or should i write extremely as opposed to very)
with yesterday’s loss, i am not ready to throw TOB under the bus like a number of posters at other blogs. i do not see him as having the short comings that some others do. further, when i look at the current depth chart, i see four sophs starting along the offensive line with Crisp as a backup, a soph and two freshman at running back, and a junior and a soph at tight end. even if R. Wilson leaves, there will not be a big drop off in quarterback play with Glennon. with regard to the defense, the starting defensive backs where three sophs and one freshman. they weren’t bad although Tory Smith made them look so-but Tory Holt made the defensive backs of really good FSU teams look bad-great receivers do that. two out of three of an awesome linebacking crew will be back. two of the four starting defensive lineman were underclass man. T.J. Grahm will be back as a receiver. one hopes he will hold onto the ball better next year.
so TOB is building a good program. a division title is not out of the question next year.
I do agree...
… that, with the exception of QB & WR, this team loses very little next year. The lines should be much-improved, and that’s where you win & lose games. Specifically, it’s where we lost the Va Tech game and, arguably, yesterday’s game.

TJ Graham
being back is not a positive for me. I am ready to see someone else returning kicks and he continues to have bad drops.

But I agree with your general premise
This season went much better than expected and the staff deserves credit.
