Happy Opening Day
Today is always one of my favorite days of the year.
Not a whole lot going on these days, so let's talk a little baseball. How are you feeling about your team's chances this season?
I hated almost everything about the White Sox off-season, but then again I didn't like the off-season moves they made prior to the World Series year either. Rather than using a more traditional masher at DH, the White Sox are going with a DH-by-committee approach--which is to say they've signed a handful of washed up guys who can't hit but can still field and thus allow for a wider variety of options. Mark Kotsay is the DH today. Mark Kotsay. So that's bothersome, but certainly not bothersome enough to dampen my enthusiasm today.
Happy opening day, everybody.

Pretty pumped about the Braves' chances this year
I’d be even more pumped were it not for that God-awful Vazquez trade, but I am certainly looking forward to watching Jason Heyward become the indestructible force that destroys all in his path. I think the wild card is doable.
I know basically nothing about the AL except that it’s predicted to be another Boston$ v. NY$ battle. Yawn.
I am a braves fan too
followed by the Rays (live in Durham) and the Rockies (used to go to a lot of games when I lived in Colorado). I like the braves team this year, provided they are healthier than the past two. I would like to see a little more power in the lineup (hopefully heyward provides some help there). On paper, the rotation is top notch. The phillies are still the team to beat in the east though.
Steven, are you sad that the Sox don’t get to play the Twins in the Metrodome anymore, getting to smash into the tarp covered walls?
I joined a fantasy baseball league for the first time this year. Of course, I couldn’t make the live draft so my team appears to suck big time. I have always avoided fantasy baseball because it just seems that there are too many categories and players to keep up with. Anybody got any general pointers?
Definitely not going to miss the godforsaken Metrodome...
Honestly can’t remember the last time the Sox won a series in that building. I hate that stupid dome. [/bitter]
I was at that rays game
the team looks good this year
--Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
Oh yeah,
Mark Kotsay is everything you expect him to be.
great moment
Also a great moment: Carlos Zambrano exploding with rage after that first first-inning blooper fell in for a hit.
