Josh Davis Decides To Transfer
NC State head coach Sidney Lowe announced today that forward Josh Davis has decided to transfer from NC State.
Davis played in 31 games this past season, including a pair of ACC starts, but did not see action the final five games of the season. The local product from Athens Drive High School averaged 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game as a freshman.
"Josh was one of the hardest workers we had this past season," said Lowe. "Whenever he was inserted into the game something positive seemed to happen. Josh just expressed to me that he feels like he could have better opportunities at another school. We wish him nothing but the best."
It's too bad he wasn't willing to stick it out here, but I certainly understand the decision. With Leslie and Wood likely assuming the vast majority of the minutes at the 3, playing time was going to be hard to come by.
Here's what I wrote about Josh back in March:
Josh Davis displayed a clear understanding of his limitations and did exactly what was asked of him--namely, bring the hustle. He's not likely to ever be an effective scorer at this level, and I don't know how much room there is for him next year, but it's nice to know that we have a guy who is willing to handle the little things.
Alas. Good luck, Josh.

i can't write that
i am sorry to see Mays transfer although having a player to whom so much time was invested by the coaches leave is not good. i am sorry to see Davis leave. becasue Davis works and plays so hard, by the time he is a junior or senior, i think he would have earned substantial playing time. the fact that he didn’t play much as the season wound down should not have deterred him becasue C.J. Williams fought through similar circumstances to earn substantial playing time.
John Wall. being a northern Virginia resident (most of the time) the Wizards are my pro basketball team. i was a big fan of the Bullets (the Wizards were named the Bullets in the 70’s and 80’s) in the 70’s and 80’s-not so much as the team fell upon hard times-especially this year with the antics of Arenas. now a team i follow can decide whether to choose John Wall. my favorite team, NCSU men’s basketball, lost out on their attempt to obtain the services of Wall as Wall chose Kentucky. the Wizards better choose Wall as the number one pick. i might start watching them play again if they do.
Michael Wilbon, a sports analyst, thought that the Wizards should draft Evan Turner until Magic Johnson straightened him out. i agree with Magic. the Wizards better draft Wall so that he can play for at least one of my teams.
i might add that the last time the Wizards had the number one pick the Michael Jordan picked Kwame Brown-a complete bust. from what i understand he could have picked Pau Gasol now a Lakers star. i just read that Sidney Lowe coached Pau Gausol when he was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies.
i might add that
former UNC players add kiss of death to Mavericks, Cavaliers and most likely Orlando. the Mavs added Haywood, the Cavaliers added Jamison, and Orlando added Carter. Mavs out first round, Cavs out second round, Orlando most likely to be swept by Celtics. that is what the Cavs get for adding Jamison who took away minutes from our man Hickson!
by the way, least anyone think i am a real NBA fan-not really. i follow the NBA a bit but only watch bits of games. it dosen’t take long to see who is going to win the game.
i was a big fan of the Bird/Celtics and Magic/Lakers playoffs (hated the Lakers-could care about either the Celtics or Lakers now) and a big fan of any team trying to beat Jordan’s Bulls in his last three years there-particularly Barkley’s Suns team and Malone-Stockton’s Utah teams. otherwise i don’t really care.
I am sorry to see him go
If nothing else he cou ld have been a valuable practice player. I don’t blame him for transferring to a place where he will be on a more even playing field with his skill level.
Best of luck Josh!
I feel like this team is losing its heart
Josh is the guy that seemed to push the others to their fullest potential. I hate losing a guy like that from our locker room.
All Wolfpack, all the time.
