first, we note that Big Ben
was a Sendek recruit suited for playing Sendek’s Princeton type offense. for this offense to work well, the center must be able to make three pointers. State had some really great games under Sendek when Evtimov was manning the center position shooting threes and maneuvering for his old school hook shot. thus, one can conclude that when Sendek recruited Ben, he had some idea that Ben might be able to make a few threes playing from the center position in State’s offense of “le jour”.
second Big Ben, after having some success in the NBA summer league, stated that the Lowe coaching staff didn’t let him show what he could do. Big Ben did hit a number of threes in his stint in the NBA summer league after he graduated.
so maybe he should have been shooting three’s in college. Nah!
i don’t know how he is doing it in the French Pro A league, but defense isn’t played in the NBA summer league and many who excel there didn’t in college and can’t in the NBA.
He is shooting those from
the international three point line. Ben always had a decent shooting touch, and his limited size and athleticism makes it a must that he developed it further to play in the pros.
