Status Of Glennon, Bong Club In Doubt For UCF Game

Mike Glennon, Jake Vermiglio, J.R. Sweezy and Markus Kuhn are all listed on N.C. State's two-deep depth chart for Saturday's game against Central Florida, but it may be wise not to read too much into it.

Glennon, the Pack's backup quarterback, suffered what was described as a bruised knee in the second half of the Pack's 48-7 win over Western Carolina in the season-opener. Vermiglio, Sweezy and Kuhn were suspended and did not dress for the game.

O'Brien says the Bong Clubbers will go through a week of practice and the coaches will make a decision toward the end of the week. Not that I'm complaining, but why isn't George Bryan in as much trouble as these guys?

As for Glennon, TOB was as mum as usual on the injury topic, saying,

"I don't have to do an injury report this week until Thursday, if I have to do it at all this week. So we'll figure it out." Fine, fine. There's no need to be a grump about it.

Let's hope Sweezy and Kuhn work their way out of the dog house this week, because we may need them more than we thought. Central Florida's offense piled up 200+ yards on the ground and through the air, a performance that probably exceeded expectations even though it came against I-AA South Dakota.

So I really am baffled...

… both at the punishment some dudes are facing after being acquitted, and at the lack of punishment for Bryan, who would seem to be in the same situation.

Not feeling stellar about our chances for respectability Saturday regardless…. just saying.

I think I know why

George Bryan was only charged with (paraphrasing) “maintaining a residence for purposes of smoking weed” (haha! I don’t know exactly how it is worded, obviously!)

I think this is a default charge for someone who resides in a house where people were busted for smoking the weed. If you host a party, and people are outside smoking it, and get busted for it, you could be charged with what George was charged with.

Basically, it means he wasn’t caught smoking it. Maybe he was just guilty by association with the ones that were. I think that’s why he wasn’t held out of the game. He really didn’t do anything. His roommates did.
