Steven is right on it once again, which should come as no surprise. There is no way to put into words an assessment of the Pack’s latest Circ de Sole on the hardwood performance. Transcendent is all that comes to mind. However there is this one offensive set that I need help with. Player A (our “big who passes so well”) stood outside the arc looking for somewhere to pass and the only teammate shuffling his feet was player B, the Point Guard (it’s some position name, I don’t understand what if any role said player does). A could have passed it toward player B, who was doing an admirable “V” cut 35’ from the basket, but instead lobbed it near the 10 second line nearest to the sideline of the scorers table. Even if player A had been moving in the direction and was named Hines Ward it would have been a near miraculous catch in order to keep both feet in bounds. I only mention this in order to rant on a meaningless tangent, AND to point out that we’ve progressed from making lazy passes in year two under Lowe to making passes usually reserved for the mid life crises guy wearing Rec-Specs at the YMCA.

It is disappointing
to see the large defensive flaws in this team over and over again. The only interior player that we have contest shots is Leslie. The majority of the players play defense with their hands at their sides, and are extremely poor at moving with their man off the ball and fighting through screens. We do not seem to know when we should switch on screens and which players we can help off. Before we get too excited about FSU’s rebound %, how hard are you going to go after offensive boards when everything is going in?
