NCSU academic programs on the chopping block
On pages 6-7 of this report there is a list of undergraduate and graduate programs at NCSU that will undergo further review and are at risk of being eliminated. There are some interesting programs on the list, including some of the CALS programs which you would think would be near and dear to Chancellor Woodson's heart. For the graduate programs, I would think that they could consider cutting almost all Master's programs. Make enrollees apply to the PhD program, but allow an out for a Master's degree for those that decide they don't want to continue with the program (this is how most Engineering graduate programs are run). Does anyone have any thoughts on the criteria they used to identify these programs? It should be noted that administrative cuts and adjustments are listed earlier in the memo.
