So I believe it's safe to say the Big East was overrated
The ACC's been in this boat before, and now it's the Big East's turn.
The problem is that, when you're evaluating teams, over half of the games they're playing are against each other... so the only differentiator between a 10-6 team in the ACC and one in the Big East is how the two conferences fared OOC. And since the OOC games happened in 3-5 months ago, those games simply do not represent what the teams are like now.
So given that higher Big East seeds are now 24-4 in this tourney, but higher Big East seeds are 6-4... and given that four of the biggest upsets are OVER Big East teams... and given that the only Big East team to make the Sweet 16 yesterday was one that HAD to make it, since they were facing another Big East team... well, I don't want to hear any more bitching from fans of that conference because there are two 2nd-round matchups between two Big East teams. Without those matchups, the conference might not make the second weekend.
It's so much more fun to lob grenades at another conference than to have them lobbed at us...

I agree
I still think the Big 10 was the best overall conference. The Big East was definitely better than the ACC, and they have some really good teams, but they also have some really, really bad teams that conference records get padded against. I didn’t have a problem with the number of BE teams that made it, I did have a problem with their seeding. I don’t care that UCONN won their conference tourney, no team that finishes 9th in their conference should be a 3 seed. I think that the BE has benefitted the past couple years from inflated seedings, which gives the easier matchups, and better results.
UConn, ND, and 'Cuse might just prove it was top heavy
Could still be 2-3 BE teams in in Final 4- which would still make ’em the elite IMO

But the 11 in the tourney were absurd
The ACC could also put 2 teams in the Final 4 – but we only got 3 “real” teams in the tourney.

And their only 2 Sweet 16 teams are in because they played other Big East teams
Meanwhile… the “shitty” ACC is 7-1…
After looking back at this
the Big East was not overrated.
When your 9th place team in your conference wins the national championship and the conference tournament championship. You have a league full of quality teams.
I love the Steelers.
