Official "Next Coach" Poll
Let's do this. If you had to bet on one guy, who would it be as of now. Please feel free to discuss in the comments.
This poll is asking you, "who do you think will actually be coaching State next year," not "who would you want to be the coach if you had your pick."
All answers except for "Sidney Lowe" are valid.
My vote is for Tubby, BTW.
Here are some extra words that I am including because it's making me have 75 words to make this a "fan post" blah blah blahgidty blah ok yeah sure un huh right absolutely Tony thanks for the interview coach no problem back to you Gary wolfpack fans stop by Bojangles after the game for some delicious chicken and biscuits

I voted Marshall
There are guys that I want above him including some of the big names and guys like Anthony Grant. But I think Marshall should be our floor, and I would also be happy with him.
I haven't had Bo's in YEARS.
Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. MMMMMMHHHHH….

That's what you get
for becoming a Yankee. Deal widdit.
Gregg Marshall gets my guess
He’d have to be near the top of any mid-major list, so assuming we reach that point….
If I could make a top ten...
My candidates for interview would be:
Mick Cronin
Frank Martin
Mark Few
Chris Mack
Randy Bennett
Mark Turgeon
Mark Fox
Chris Mooney
Gregg Marshall
Brad Stevens
I'm insanely optimistic
…and voted for the option of guys the won’t come here.

CUONZO is in the MVC Title Game
with a 60-50 win over Creighton today. Let’s see if Greggggg can join him, they are about to take on Indiana State.
BOOYAH!
Cuonzo has the upper hand on Gregg again. Wichita State loses by 13 to Indiana State in the MVC Semis.
Bears v. Sycamores tomorrow for the MVC title. A win for Cuonzo means he will have won both a regular season and tournament title in three years while Gregg has accomplished neither in four years.
And Cuonzo swept Gregg this year. Just sayin.
Yeah let's hire a guy w/ one good season as a head coach

I am at a loss
Cuonzo lost by 4 in the MVC finals to Indiana State.
Dammit.
Oh well.
Damn - didn't read first
I voted for who I want (Billy Clyde) vs who I think we’ll get (Marshall).
And Steven – man, every time there’s a poll on here, the number of respondents is far higher than the last. As the 121st respondent, I no longer feel special…. I’m lost in the crowd.
It's going to be GREGGGGGGGG
I’m firmly on the Cuonzo bandwagon, and if we get to the mid-major level of coaches I want him.
But GREGGGG’s track record is longer than Cuonzo’s, he is from the area, blah blah blah. So Gregg it will be.
Which is ok, but I’m happier with Cuonzo.
Tim Miles
I’ve been watching the show about his program since I did his profile…in a recent episode he was talking to a guy about improving his defensive rebounding percentage. Now I want him and would be willing to bear his children.
Another thing that’s obvious about Miles — he’s not going to be confused with Sid in terms of his demeanor. That dude can swear up a storm during games.
let's see...
swearing – check
statistical evaluation – check
“young” up and comer – check
buzz generation – check
I’ve got a raging semi for this guy right now. Doubt he gets a look, maybe doesn’t warrant one. But I think he would be an exciting hire. Statefans might go apoplectic, which would be another bonus for me.
This poll scares me a bit
I would have figured the BTP readership to be the most level-headed of any State fan site…and yet we have a plurality voting for the unattainable big name. Could be another long March/April.
The only guy in my “not coming here” list that I think we’d have any kind of a shot at is Miller, and that’s just based on a few tidbits I’ve picked up from different people. But I still think the odds are slim.
sorry
I also voted “not coming here” 50 times while clutching my framed Bo Ryan photo for good luck.
I hope you didn't watch
yesterday’s Wiscy v OSU game.

I would agree with this list
you have the three most talked about names in the past few weeks + Cuonzo.
Still may be some wild cards out there but you have to figure that at least two of these four are getting interviews, Gregg and Tubby most likely among them. I’m still not sold that Turgeon will leave the Midwest.
Here's a site with a bunch of speculation about coaching jobs, ours included
On Jan 18:
We are hearing that NC State could open and that their main target would be Arizona HC Sean Miller.
On Jan 28:
We are still hearing Sean Miller to NC State, and Reggie Theus or Josh Pastner to Arizona.
On Feb 7
There are multiple reports that NC State will go very hard after Gregg Marshall and will not try to hire any other HM coach.
On Feb 8
We have been told to not sleep on Tubby Smith to NC State.
On Feb. 14:
We are hearing a lot of different things at NC State. We hear Tubby is fed up with Minnesota and is looking, but we don’t believe that. We have also heard now from multiple sources that Seth Greenberg may try to get involved at NC State. He believes he has done enough at Virginia Tech to garner some interest from NC State, and that he has hit the ceiling at Virginia Tech. We are not sure about this. We still believe that Gregg Marshall is the guy at NC State.
No way in hell
Debbie isn’t that dumb. Plus he is just the kind of sniveling twit that I think she would despise.
Profile of a Possible Savior coming up!
/not really
/well, maybe if I just want to send people into a spin.

I think we should go after Paul Hewitt
He is the only coach in the ACC with a winning record versus Roy Williams, and if what I read on the interwebz is correct, all NC State fans care about is beating unc.
Saw the report today where Tubby adamantly denied interest in GT job
My read on that is that he floated his name in the press in connection with the GT job in the first place, and they are looking to go in a different direction, so now he “turns down” GT to save face.
