PrintI have a contact that tells me Gregg Marshall will be the next NC State coach. Announcement coming Saturday. I have witnessed him in action at Winthrop. He is an amazing man, phenomenal coach. He will make the Wolfpack proud. He owns the record for a single season in wins at Wichita and Winthrop. His kids defend like no other. When he begins recruiting a higher level kid. Look out!! I heard grumblings when they hired him at Wichita about being unproven at a higher level. Look what he has just accomplished. I realize it wasn't the NCAA, but they could have got a bid.

I dont know if this is an April Fools joke or not...
I hope it is though. Im a Missouri fan living in Kansas City. Ive witessed Marshall coach in person several times. He is a darn good coach. I dont think he will get flashy recruits, but your team will definitly be sound Xs and Os wise. After a couple seasons, he will start getting the Big dogs to come just because of being a GREAT, not just good, GREAT coach. Its him or Shak for me and anyone else I would be upset with.

It seems to be the popular opinion
that our schools(Missouri and NCSU) will split Shaka and Marshall. Personally, I could make an argument for either one. I think Gregg has proven himself as a really good coach, while Shaka would be the flashier hire.

Marshall much more proven. Smarts team had made a magical run, but he finished fourth this year in a below average conference and fifth last year.

I think our current roster is more suited to Shaka’s scheme but no question Marshall is the better coach. He has built the two program he has been out from the ground up. I bet Shaka will be a better recruitor but Coaching>Recruiting everytime. I dont think Greg Marshall is high on our list though. I think Cronin is tops, followed by Shaka, Jacobson, then Marshall. Atleast thats what Mizzou insiders are saying.

I have said all along
that Missouri’s roster and the playing style Anderson installed would match up really well with Shaka. I do not know enough about Cincy and Cronin to compare.

No April fools joke. My source is good and he is coming. I am an acc fan and I am fired up about this. He may not always out recruit the big 2, but he will stand toe to toe with them and will get more out of his players than most anyone. He is a little cocky but very charismatic and his players love him.

I hope this guy is right. Marshall was the first mid-major coach I had on my list. I think he will do a pretty good job here. The job recruits itself somewhat, this guy is a pretty damn good coach, and he has the right personality to fit our job IMO.

Most guys over there are delusional and think if we get Gregg Marshall or Shaka Smart that we might as well have kept Lowe.

in the presser we would get to see Marshall in Raleigh with Kingston and Yow in Houston via skype.

I’m sorry but VCU takes too many threes. Been there, done that.

But the problem is that you live and die by it.
VCU has been living by it for the tournament, which can happen. They got hot at the right time from outside.
But they struggled mightily for stretches of the seasons from beyond the arc, and that ALMOST kept them out of the tournament. Knowing NC State’s luck, we would probably be cold more often than hot if Smart were our coach.

It sounds more and more like Marshall is coming. Shaka Smart is an unknown. 5th last year and 4th this year in a bad conference. Seriously!! Marshall is going to be great for NC State.
