Koren Robinson Was Fun
Koren Robinson was a big reason why both Philip Rivers and the team were so surprisingly good in Chuck Amato's first season. He saved some of his best work for the Micron PC Bowl against Minnesota, which ended up being his last game in a Wolfpack uniform. I found some highlights of the game on YouTube, and if you only watch one play, make sure it's the one that starts around 5:50.
Two more classics from the Rivers era:
Finishing on a hoops note, if you skip ahead to the :45 mark, you'll see a great example of just how horrible NC State fans are. /sarcasm

God, I miss him
So much talent, so much of a waste. Particularly the redshirt freshman year – that was not a good decision, given that he only ended up playing two.
PR-to-Koren was simply automatic when they single-covered. PR would just look at him, pat his helmet, snap it… and Koren would run a corner pattern for the TD. Awesome…
yep
Seems like he could have fit in somewhere even with Torry and Chris Coleman his redshirt year. As soon as he did start playing, he was an impact player.
I was at the Minny bowl game
Minnesota’s RB steamrolled the pack through the first 3 quarters and just absolutely ran out of gas, allowing for the unexpected comeback.
that was my freshman year
just brings back a bunch of if onlys
If only Chuck could have kept that initial coaching staff together
If only KRob hadn’t of wasted all that talent
I’m drinking tonight.
How bout next week we take a ride on the youtube time machine to the TA days. Heavy drinking will be required.
Ahhh, TA.
My freshman year was in 04. I was at the UNC game that year. Horrible memories. And now I pass through Kenan Stadium every Monday-Friday (gym to lab) and see the poster they have, listing that game as being memorable. The one good thing about that poster is that it describes State as UNC’s “archrival.” Hard to say that you’re not someone’s rival when your stadium says otherwise.
i was there as well
Still burns a bit. It is amusing to me how they waste all that energy claiming they don’t care, but I’m pretty sure they rushed the field after they beat an unranked NC State team that night…
Just watched the WVa video
I was at that game. Honestly may be my favorite Pack team since I went to State in ’89… not the best (Corchiani/Monroe/Gugs takes that handily), but my favorite.
And watched the Minnesota video again
Amazing to get chills watching plays from 11 years ago. Damn, I’m getting old…
The last TD (the fade to Koren) was an absolutely sick throw. And God, I miss that offense. Lots of motion, changing formations… the defense just had no f’ing idea what was coming.
and just a few short years later, we had Noel Mazzone…………………….
Plus, you guys get that we actually went for two on our first 3 TD’s – and made them all? That’s swagger – and talent.
