I was pretty angry and frustrated after this game, but then Alex Johnson provided a reality check.
All the praise to you Lord. Lord I'm at rock bottom. Hear me Lord Im crying out for you! I try to be strong but I am Weak. Help me Lord

I really feel like we outplayed a good team last night
Our rebounding should have made up for our poor shooting. I still can’t figure out how we lost that game. Some combination of free throws and Alex johnson I guess.

3-15 from behind the arc would have been enough to win.

Painful
We’ve had opportunities that we have not taken, hope that is not the theme for this year. We should have beaten Tech, and had a real shot at upsetting a ranked team last night.
However, what I hoped to see this year was a team that fights hard, plays smart, and a coach that has a real impact on the floor. We have definitely seen that. Gottfried can coach and motivate a team. He can get them off the floor after a butt kicking.
Not sure how this year will play out, it seems we are just a little below NCAAT quality right now, but I think the future is promising.
Maybe they all come in to the next one
as angry and motivated as Rich howell was last night. Something tells me the big boy was mad at himself and the world after that UNC game. Awesome performance.
Yeah, he was playing like a beard possessed.
Very impressive.

my exact thought process last night:
Ugh, this is bad
Hmmm, we can recover from that
Yay
Ugh, thus sucks
OH WE BACK
garbage
Howell is awesome. I think someone kicked Woods puppy this afternoon
WOOD..BOOM
meh
With all that said, I second that we never speak of this again.

E-mailed Debbie Yow about the officiating last night. One, I send the e-mail this morning and she replied within one hour, with a specific reply to my e-mail. I really appreciate that about her.
She said they do review questionable calls and coach Gottfried takes the lead in sending them to the ACC office.
She also said the teams needs our support. I found the comment about the team needing our support interesting. Seemed like she was implying they needed moral support from the fans.
Maybe that relates Johnson’s tweet.
Its not often
my father calls out the refs in a game, but he did in that one. Howell’s 5th foul, Leslie’s 3rd and 4th fouls (rebounding fouls), the Painter foul on Scott from the 3-pt line, Wood being blatantly held while fighting through the screens on offense and defense, and we should of still won that one. AJ makes the layup or we make one more of those threes and we’re there.
The team fights, and they fight hard. I’m immensely happy with the effort after just 2 days off, and I’m going to blame such a cold shooting night from Wood on the quick turn around.
3 winnable games coming up here, get to 7 – 3 in the conference. I’m really hoping we can find a way to get the 4-seed in the ACC tourney… that would be a big win for this team.
i agreed with most of those calls
The painter foul on Scott and the first rebounding foul on Leslie were legit. Howell’s fifth was a tough call. The no-calls on wood being held were egregious though.

The third game where people are saying "let's forget about this one"
Bad news – You can’t forget about 43% of the games you play.
I’m developing a serious concern regarding our offensive sets, and our ability to generate open looks. I’m going to sound like a broken record here, but we set high ball screens for every G/D player on the floor EXCEPT the one guy who can shoot from outside. Watch Duke’s offense when they had JJ Reddick – whoever guarded him got their asses beaten by a series of screens – every single possession – and it’s why he would get 8-10 open looks a game. Scott’s lone open looks come in transition or off of loose balls – and that’s just not good enough.
I’d love to say they tried their hardest – but I just didn’t see that for most of the game. I saw a bunch of guys standing pretty still on offense – and an utter lack of help on defense.
In the end, we have more talent than Virginia – period. And we were at home. To me, there’s cause for concern in dropping a 2nd home game to a team who, quite honestly, has no right beating us at home.
Bad news – You can’t forget about 43% of the games you play.
Challenge accepted. Now where’s my bottle of forgettin’ juice.
Mere mortals can't forget about 43% of the games we play
Steven, however? I may eat those words…

does anyone know what game he's talking about?
And he said “second” home loss, I could have sworn we have won all our home games.

Virginia is at least as good a team as us this year and probably a bit better
Not by much, but yeah, they are. If the teams play 10 times they probably win 6 and we win 4. They have a very good coach who has had more time to implement his system than Gottfried, and the best player in the conference. This is not like the GT loss. It does put us behind the 8 ball in terms of making the tournament, but that was always a long shot anyway.
I don’t know – it seems like you and I were watching different games. I saw plenty of effort on our part. You do not dominate the glass like we did without effort. You do not come back twice from 9-10 point second half deficits against that opponent without effort. We lost because we missed free throws, shot poorly from 3, missed layups, and blew our last posession (and I do put that on the head coach – bad idea to call a TO, and then a bad play call).
As for Wood, we were trying to get him free and he was constantly getting held/mugged as he came off screens. We never once got that call. That was probalby the most frustrating part of a very frustrating game. If that is allowed to happen, then there is not much we can do to get Wood free because he is totally incapable of creating his own shot.
How many games
are we going to get stuck with Roger Ayers officiating?
If it isn't him, it's Jamie Luckie
I can’t stand those two. The worst is when you get Jamie reffering your game against Dook
