The folks at ACCSports.com
They do a good job.
(Not that you don’t, says the daily BTP reader.)
They can put a positive spin on things!
The featured recruit in a “solid year” is #22 ranked in our OWN state… I’m a glass half full kinda guy, but even I don’t round up to 3/4 full..

I also thought there
was a disconnect between the tone of the in-state recruiting results, and then the actual in-state recruiting results.
They say, “NC State signed 4 of the top 30 NC recruits.” I see, “NC State did not even sign 1 top 20 recruit in NC.”

Good class this year
Don’t get caught up in recruiting rankings: Unless they are recruiting at a Texas/USC level, where a school is are ranked does not matter much as long as they bring in acceptable baseline level talent (i.e., if half your class are guys with no other BCS offers, you might have a problem). Once you get down into the 15-20 level in the national rankings and lower, the number of stars matters much less than getting guys who can actually qualify and stay in school, will work hard to get better, and fit the team’s system and needs.
This class fills holes, especially on the lines. And while I’d like to see us recruit better in-state, it really does not matter where the talented guys come from. Many of our best recruits this year are from Georgia, including Kenderious Whitehead who UGa was (and is) after HARD.
I have really stopped following
football recruiting in any detail. With the level of player that schools like NCSU bring in, it is really hard to know which guys will end up being significant contributors and which will just kind of pass through without much impact.
The extent of my recruitment following is, after a guy commits, looking at what other schools were recruiting him. If he has a number of offers from BCS level schools, I am typically happy.

I look at the positions of need and players versatility/athleticism
I trust the staff and the evaluations they make. TOB may not get the absolutely max out of you, but he’s going to get more than 90% of the other coaches in the nation.
Look at some of our biggest stars from the past 5 years:
Russell Wilson – really no other high-level offers
Audie Cole – was expected to go to Directional Michigan
Nate Irving – while not recruited, definitely blossomed, and was a nobody out of HS
George Bryan – no one out side of VA, NC and SC thought much of him, recruited more as at OT
Hell, David Amerson wasn’t particularly getting tons of attention
I could throw in Brian Slay and Thomas Teal, who got slightly more attention (I’m looking forward to next year)
Probably half of our O/D lines had limited offers from major programs, but I think will become a big plus for us over the next 2 years.
I would love to get more Robert Crisps and the likes at a 5-star level, but I’m also happy to know that our coaching staff can take a 2-star talent no one wanted and turn him into a tackling machine who went in the 4th round of the NFL draft.
Amerson does not really fit on that list.
Notre Dame, among others, was after him hard. But generally you do have a point.

I'm hoping a few don't get stolen on signing day
Jarnor Jones and a few others are noticeable making “final” decisions tomorrow.
yeah, as it is right now i don't think we have room to steal anybody
But we do have to worry about being robbed…
