i'm lovin' it
2012 McDonald's All-American rosters released:
North Carolina State leads the way with three All-American recruits: point guard Tyler Lewis of Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), shooting guard Rodney Purvis of Upper Room Christian (Raleigh, N.C.) and small forward T.J. Warren of Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.). Kentucky and Arizona claim two selections apiece, while no other college currently has multiple recruits selected to the game.
The 2012 McDonald's All-American game will be held March 28 (9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN)

and yet
this class is only the sixth best (ESPN) in the nation and not even the best in the ACC as ESPN as UNC at fourth. see, its not if you get three Mickey D’s All Americans, its that you get four in the ESPN top 100. four in the top 100 trumps 3 in the top 50 or, say, even in the top 25.
sorry. State is 7th at ESPNU
while UNC is 5th.
Rankings are a joke, something that clown in the picture is no good at delivering
I’m just waiting for one of the writers to justify it by saying that UNX’s recruits have more NBA-potential and that’s why their class is ranked higher… bullshit
in the end
such rankings are only for bragging rights and a “feel good” situation. its going to be how the players perform in their time at their respective schools.
what is important is State having three players in the Mickey D’s game. that can only help recruiting!
on Tyler Lewis: i like his demeanor-Corch with a three point jumper. however, i remember the hype around Ryan Harrow, so i wonder if Lewis’s game can be as successful at the division one college level. i am in a “wait and see” on that.
The one knock Lewis has been getting has been at the defensive end
Hopefully the coaching staff can upgrade that if it is necessary, but his wonders on the offensive end have been spectacular. Great court vision and the ability to knock down open jumpers. I think he is comparable to Alex Johnson with a better shot. AJ doesn’t turn the ball over a lot and usually finds 3 – 4 assists per game.
you never can tell, but
Lewis will be much better than AJ. I am buying into the hype after seeing him play a few times. At worst, I see a lot of 6 point 11 assist nights in his future.

We'd better hope Lewis
is waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy better than AJ. AJ is just not an ACC caliber guard (which is why he was at cal-bakersfield).

Ok, I think you guys misunderstood
I mean that he’s not turnover prone and gets good assists in his minutes (like AJ has this season). But AJ’s defense is spotty, which is what I’ve be hearing about Lewis. I think Lewis will be a much better player for us than AJ has been, after the first year.
AJ, minus his shot, has been a pretty good offensive player for us. I don’t think Lewis will be eating up a multitude of minutes in his first season, but will fill the role that AJ has had this season.
That should be just about perfect
especially with Brown having another year under his belt.

Harrow is a much better analogy
He had an excellent assist to turnover ratio, alot of assists despite little playing time, and his defense was shaky (though so was everyone’s).

I remember the hype over Harrow too
I also remember him living up to the hype but having a terrible coach that would bench him for the worst PG to ever don a NCSt jersey.

you do have a very good point.
i think over and over of the players hurt by Lowe’s coaching. for example, C.J. Williams is having a great senior year. how would his freshman, sophomore and junior years have looked if Gott had been his coach?
First time ever having 3 recruits selected to the game:

If Calvin stays next year, the 2012-13 roster will have an all time high of 4 McDonald’s All-Americans.
who is the biggest "bust" of this group.
has to be Chris Washburn as he lost his first year due to stealing a stero. he then immaturely left after his second year. Chris definitely needed two more years at State to mature.
second would be Wilkins, and that was due to a “helicopter” father and uncle.
after that i would say Costner and put the onus on Lowe as opposed to Costner. originally i would have put it on Costner, but from what we have learned about Lowe’s coaching, i now think Lowe had a lot to do with how Costner played.
best in no particular order: Hodge, Lowe, Whitt, Monroe, Corch.
Easily Wilkins
Washburn was a bust as a pro, but he performed a hella lot better than Damien in college. Scooter is probably the player least deserving of a McD bid, but he was the local kid (I believe) that they like to put on the roster.
Scooter
was really outclassed in the Mickey D’s game. You could tell he was not used to going up against guys with similar athletic ability. But he turned out to be more valuable than guys like Damian.

Yea I would go with Wilkins as the biggest bust
best: Hodge, Monroe, Lowe, Whittenburg/Corch (in that order)
Scooter would have been better in an uptempo offense instead of the Princeton drab we suffered thru under Sendek.
Agree
Wilkins was arguably the biggest disappointment, Hodge paid huge dividends, and Sherrill’s athleticism was wasted due to the “system” he was subjected to.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
We could potentially have 5 McD AA’s on the court at once.

did you guys forget
that NC State should stop with the delusional talk of competing with the Dukes and UNCs of the world on the recruiting trail? Its just crazy talk

I'd just like to say with no chance of increasing expectations
that while we’ve never had three McD’s in one class, the last two times we had two in a class it’s worked out aight.
That jumped out at me as well,
but I was hesitant to acknowledge it lest I jinx it.

Keep lovin it cause it's like McDonalds
Keep lovin it. Just b/c u have a good recruiting class doesnt mean u will succeed. Unless u resurrect JimmiE V so illiterstes can graduate
its the first step though
there arent many teams that have success without talent
I love the Steelers.
