2012 ACC Baseball Tournament Field Announced

The ACC announced the schedule for the 2012 baseball tournament on Sunday.

2012 ACC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEEDINGS
May 23-27 at NewBridge Bank Park (Greensboro, N.C.)
POOL A – No. 1 Florida State, No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Clemson, 8. Georgia Tech
POOL B – No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 NC State, No. 6 Miami, No. 7 Wake Forest

Here's a quick refresher on the format:

Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its division Wednesday-Saturday (May 23-26). The two teams with the best records within their respective division brackets will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 27, with the winner earning the ACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Here's State's schedule:

Wednesday: Miami vs. NC State (3 p.m. ET, RSN)
Thursday: Wake Forest vs. NC State (7 p.m. ET, RSN)
Saturday: NC State vs. UNC (7 p.m. ET, RSN)

It's always better to have Thursday or Friday as your day off rather than Wednesday, so State once again lucked out there. It will be interesting to see how Avent and Holliday decide to set up the rotation...if they save Rodon for UNC, they may not even have a shot at advancing to the title game by the time that game rolls around.
