2012 ACC Baseball Tournament: NC State Falls To Wake Forest, 7-3

Stay connected for news and updates

After Trea Turner's home run to start the game, this one quickly devolved into a total suckfest. It was just one of those days where nobody on the mound for State could throw strikes with consistency. Anthony Tzamtzis rarely got ahead of Wake hitters, though it took the Deacs a couple of innings to make him pay for that. His relief wasn't much better.

State pitching issued six walks, threw four wild pitches, and hit two batters. There were also two passed balls attributed to Brett Austin. It was a total train wreck and unfortunately the offense wasn't there to make up for any of it.

The win by Wake Forest means that all four teams in our pool are 1-1. Friday's Wake vs. Miami game serves as an elimination game for half of the pool. If Wake Forest wins that game, only the Deacs or UNC can win the pool. If Miami wins, only the Canes or Wolfpack can advance.
