If I had a time machine, I know exactly what I would do with it. It'd be trivial but it wouldn't do any damage, either. I'd go back and watch David Thompson in his prime at NC State. I'd check out some baseball games at the Polo Grounds. I'd go to Albuquerque and try to act like I had no idea what was about to happen. I'd soak up some cigar smoke during a Dixie Classic game in the '50s.
