There isn't one on the front page(I know, just click on Older Fan Posts, but I don't know if it would come back to the front), so I figured I would make a new one. I don't know the rules for making one of these either, so I will just type and hope it goes through.
Dan Kane of the N&O, who is the main one reporting on this and keeping it in the light, had a post on his blog, with an article probably coming out soon. Basically, it's talking about the "clustering" of athletes to certain courses. He even uses an old article talking Sean May commenting on switching majors from a double in Communications to a degree in Afro-Amer Studies.
"The Star's report said the high number of African studies graduates on the basketball team raises issues of "clustering," in which athletes are steered to a particular course of instruction because it's easier to accomplish. But John Blanchard, UNC-CH's senior associate athletics director in charge of student-athletes services, told the Star that wasn't the case."
