Rodney Purvis was cleared to attend class on Tuesday, though his basketball eligibility has yet to be determined. According to Jeff Borzello, NC State officials believe that Purvis will play this season, but they aren't sure that he will be cleared by the NCAA by the start of the regular season.
Sources tell CBSSports.com that North Carolina State is confident Purvis will play at some point this season, but they are not sure when he will be fully cleared.
"I don't think it will be a problem for the entire season," one source said. "But the start of the season? Not sure."
If he misses the start of the regular season, that could be more painful than in other years because we aren't exactly easing into the schedule what with the Puerto Rico Tip-Off and potential games against Tennessee and UMass. But the most important thing, of course, is that he is ready to go by the time January rolls around. Let's hope the NCAA can get this thing sorted out well before then, though.
