AND WE HAVE BASKETBALL.
As the only Real SPort i Recognize (until Hockey gets recognition for the Genius sport that it is) The summers are long for me... But all that is over because NOW we have have BASKETBALL. And i'm here to do a Player By Player Breakdown of PTP.
Lets Start With Scout Team
Jevoni, Battle, Brickhouse: Didn't really get a chance to show out but played hard
Chase Cannon: Heard he Earned a Scholly
Patrick Wallace: Doesn't play like a walk on he's a lot more polished than the others on Scout Team and seams to be the best shooter on the team overall
now on to the rotation
Anya: Ok Guys. Time for a Dose of Realism. Anya's transformation is gonna take a year to start being effective and noticeable, i'm sure he'll get playing time, and do ok, but he's going through a lifestyle change. People wanna compare it to Howell but, Howell was in Shape in Highschool and then fell into bad habits. Anya Been a big boy his whole life. We are gonna have to be two things above all as a fan base. Supportive and Patient. Believe in the wolf and Believe in the Pack.
Washington: One thing is Certain. Once Washington gets comfortable. He will be a NIGHTMARE. He has such a great post presence around the basket and knows where he his at all times and defensively he has the potential to be a monster. and he's a great outlet passer to boot, it will be fun to watch his development on both ends.
Freeman: What i was afraid we were gonna miss more than Brown's Playmaking, CJ's Natural ability or even Wood's shooting, was Howell being a Grown ass man in the paint. Say what you want, but NOBODY pushed Howell around in the Paint. it was HIS paint he was gonna let you know it. Now at 17 we have Freeman another GROWN ASS MAN. Maybe its because he's so physically strong and powerful or maybe ts because he's too young to be nervous but he looks like our starting PF. He's Bangs in the paint. he OWNS EVERY BOARD He goes up in the traffic with no fear. I love it. Of course he was 1-7 form the line, bu t good news is that he looks like he has decent shot mechanics so its seems workable.
Barber: He definitely looked like he was working the butterflies out of his head a bit, and you could see all of his instincts and muscle memory were not all there because of the concussion. Good news is he still was playing good D (as good as you can on TL) and He's shooter better than advertised.
Lee: I love Him. Absolutely. He's gonna be a Problem defender. and he has a mentality of Don't fuck with me that we are gonna need. He still had the gunner mentality putting up shots but that will change i believe. This actually leads me into what i feel like our starting unit should be
and our second Unit should be
While that Gives us a solid but not spectacular starting unit that gives us a second unit that is gonna be vastly superior than many others in the ACC and that can be a difference maker.
Turner: He Showed Flashes of being a really good player this year. the hitch in his jumper is gone. that steal near half court, and his spacing and moving without the ball, but he was too passive for my liking hopefully he'll come out of his shell this season.
TJW: BOY YALL IN TROUBLE NOW. He's bigger, Leaner, quicker, and still scoring in ways that make you go WTF? in short he's gonna be a fucking problem.
Vandy: NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE. YOU CAN'T FOOL ME VANDY NOT AFTER FIVE YEARS OF PAIN AND DISAPPOINTMENT. In short he has to produce when it matters.
Teenwolf: I will now describe my feelings of our starting PG in one gif
Man He's twenty Pounds Bigger and still a beast with the ball. I SEE YOU DOUBTERS. I SEE YOU. YOU FEED HIM. YOU MAKE HIM STRONGER. idk what else to say. the guy is gonna average 5 assist a game off TJW alone and he's proved he can score among the trees. If he can get his jumper hitting he's automatically a problem for the ACC.
Basically that's its. i feel like we have a chance to do some great things this season and if eel like we WILL over achieve.
