I just happened to catch Bryan Underwood's Q&A on ESPN and I was impressed with several things. (Q & A: Bryan Underwood ) First that HD wrote a decent article about State, the intelligence and enthusiasm of Bryan Underwood, and how coach DD and staff are making real impact on the players' lives.
If you have seen some of my ESPN comments in the past you probably noticed that until ESPN changed to a FB based format on commenting, that I would not restrain from suggesting that ESPN get new ACC commentators. However, in this article HD has a good approach towards NC State and may even appear to reveal that she disagrees with the outcome/calls of the Clemson game. Do not expect me to be come a HD fan, but I could read more NC State articles written in this manner.
In only seeing Underwood's comments in this article, I am very impressed with the intelligence and enthusiasm of his answers. While some might say that CDD took a page from Crash Davis's advice book and gave it to the team. Bryan's answers show he is smart, funny, willing to let go of the things he cannot control, and fully invested in doing his part for the the team.
It is also clear that Coach Doeren and staff have been making sweeping and positive changes with the guys at State. I know it is the norm for players to say good things about the coach, but what I have seen said this year about NC State football is repeated in every interview I have read. Coach Doeren and staff seem to have the guys inspired, going the extra mile every day, interested in the well being of their teammates, and headed in the right direction.
I was happy that I read this article this morning (back in Bangkok this week), to see brains and heart behind helmets and pads, and to see that CDD is inspiring the Pack. Makes me believe that NC State will exceed the expectations of its critics.
