The ACC finally got around to releasing the football schedule on Monday, and now we have dates. Yay dates. This is a favorable schedule for Dave Doeren, as the Pack has eight home games and only leaves the state of North Carolina for two games. Let's take a closer look at this bad boy.
|9/19||Clemson (ESPN Thursday)|
|10/5||@ Wake Forest|
|10/26||@ Florida State|
|11/16||@ Boston College|
Remember how NC State started ACC play on the road in every year of TOB's tenure, which was something he liked to bring up from time to time? Well now TOB is gone and you guessed it, NCSU opens league play at home. I see you, league office. Well played.
We should get a good idea about where this team stands in that early matchup against Clemson, but my guess is we'll roll to victory because the Tigers--like every other opponent--will be utterly baffled by our linebacker-free defense. Linebackers are dumb and we're starting a movement this year. You heard it here first. Down with linebackers. (And homework.)
State will host ACC newcomer Syracuse, which means a trip to the picturesque Carrier Dome will have to wait another year. The key stretch begins with the FSU game in late October--with three of four on the road beginning there, it's a portion of the schedule that could prove pivotal to bowl eligibility. Now don't get me wrong, we'll almost certainly be 6-0 at that point, but it's still a stretch worth keeping an eye on. I'd hate for Carolina or Duke to spoil a perfect season.
