From an article at WRAL Sportsfan.com:
NC State women's basketball head coach Wes Moore announced Thursday the hiring of Gene Hill as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Wolfpack Women. Hill spent the last five years at Georgia Tech as an assistant coach and director of operations.
Georgia Tech's women's program certainly has had a bit of success recently. Adding a coach from that program whose job is to coordinate recruiting appears to be a good move. Harper's issue was the lack of recruting. The only class which was decent was her second and that was rated as a top 30 class by Hoopgurlz. Richard Barron was most likely instrumental in recruiting that class, and prior to joining Harper's coaching staff was the associate head coach at Baylor, last year's national champion. Again, most likely due to Barron's Texas influence, State added the following players from Texas to the team: Erica Donovan, Krystal Barrett, Len' Nique Brown, Ashley Eli, Kiana Evans and Devin Griffin. Donovan and Griffin transferred after their freshman year and both before Harper was released.
Note: neither Griffin nor Brown were part of the top 30 class. Griffin entered State with Harper's first class and Brown transferred from USC.
More from the article referenced:
Hill, who will work with the Wolfpack guards, was a key contributor to the most successful five-year stretch in Georgia Tech women's basketball history. From 2009 to 2012, the Yellow Jackets made four-consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the program's first Sweet 16 appearance in 2012.
From GoPack an update with regard to women's basketball:
Lindsay Edmonds has been hired as an assistant women's basketball coach, new NC State head coach Wes Moore announced on Friday. Edmonds spent the last four years as an assistant coach at James Madison University.
"Lindsay is a North Carolina native which I think is very important because we're going to put an emphasis on in-state recruiting," said Moore. "In her time at James Madison she also recruited the East Coast quite a bit - Virginia Beach, Washington D.C., Philadelphia areas. She helps us get a foot in the door immediately in those spots."
Edmonds, who will be tasked with working with the Wolfpack post players, was the recruiting coordinator at both James Madison and Appalachian State.
As noted earlier, Moore has also added Nikki West as associate head coach. Moore is a very experienced head coach with tremendous success in the SoCon. Maybe, just maybe, he will be able to continue that success in the ACC.
