The NC State wrestling team picked up three wins today at the Pitt Duals, defeating Clarion (30-6), Eastern Michigan (32-11) and Seton Hill (36-9). The Pack won 23 of its 30 matches on the day, and improves to 10-2 in duals this season, with both losses to nationally ranked teams.
Editors Note: I do have a problem with GoPack's excuse for losing which is we lost to a ranked team. We still lost. If we want to be great, we beat all teams.
The following information is taken from D1CollegeWrestling.net:
In the 149 pound division State wrestler Brian Hamman, a freshman, is ranked 17th.
In the 157 pound division, State wrestler Thomas Gantt, a junior, is ranked 21st.
In the 174 pound division, State wrestler Pete Renda, a freshman, is ranked 23rd.
In the 285 pound division(yes, that is correct), State wrestler Nick Gwizadowski, a sophomore, is ranked 4th.
The State team is not ranked in the top 25 of this site nor is it ranked in the top 25 of the NCAA rankings. State, by the site referenced above, is fifth in the ACC. The ACC has seven schools participating in wrestling. State is above both UNC and Duke which hold down the sixth and seventh slots. I will take that.
