State Women Improve to 17 and 3


The N. C. State women's basketball team improved to 17-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference with at 85-76 win over Boston College.

State jumped out to first a 9-0 lead and then to a 15-2 lead as Kody Burke scored 9 points in about the first three minutes. However, by half-time the score was 41-39 State in view of B.C.'s hot shooting from the arc. B.C. shot 8 of 15 from the arc in the first half.

Markeisha Gatling led State in scoring with 27 points going 9 for 13 from the field and 9 for 10 from the free throw line. Kody Burke scored 24 points going 10 for 16 from the field and also had 11 rebounds. Le'Nique Brown scored 15 points for State also going 9 for 10 from the free throw line.

For the game, B.C. shot 13 of 28 from the three point line with Kelly Hughes scoring 23 points and hitting 6 of 10 three point shots. In much of the game, B.C. collapsed State's defense and then passed the ball out to the three point line for open three point shots. In view of Georgia Tech hitting 11 three points shots in their win over State Sunday, better arc defense is needed by the Pack.
