I had the honor of graduating from NC State university today, and I just kept thinking about how lucky I am to be apart of such a great community. I spent four of the best years of my life here, learning about myself, life, and what I want to become. I also followed our athletics religiously forever entrenching myself in a love hate relationship that will torment me until I die. I got to see Russell Wilson succeed and leave (thanks TOB), an unlikely Sweet 16 trip, and watch some of the best baseball players in school history lead us to the College World Series. We may not win as much as our neighbors down the road but few schools have a fan-base with so much passion. We develop a connection with each other that goes farther than wins and losses. The NC State alumni and fan community is about that passion and connection that we have with each other. We are irrational, and sometimes crazy but we are freaking awesome.
Just a little story before I finish my rant, I was on vacation in Dubai this winter inside a "souk", which is a little Arab shopping area. I happened to run into a fellow American tourist and we started to chat. Soon into the conversation I mentioned I was a senior at NC State. His eyes lit up and he told me he played football at State in the early 90s. We talked for the next few minutes about NC State football, basketball, and baseball (we had both woken up/stayed up to an ungodly hour to watch a basketball game the previous night). That proved to me that Wolfpack are everywhere. I'll keep this short but I just want to reinforce the fact that we are lucky to be apart of the NC State family. I wouldn't trade my time at NC State or my connection to this place for anything in the world. Go Pack.
PS. Jerricho Cotchery graduated with my class today and it was awesome.
