WBB: This Post Will cover the North Florida (W), UNCW (W) and NC Central Games (W)

NORTH FLORIDA

State is in a stretch of cupcake city games, and unlike the men, the women's team tends to put them away. Not cupcakes, but cupcake teams. The reason for this is more likely to be a lack of parity in the women's game than in the men's game.

State led North Florida 45-26 at the half. Midway through the first half State began using a trapping full court press which proved to be a tad too difficult to handle for North Florida, and they because of it, turned the ball over 17 times in the first half. Because of those turnovers, State made a number of layups and shot for the half 58%. However, when North Florida managed to get a shot off, they did hit half of those.

State won 78-52 even with the starters playing very little in the second half. State shot 57% to North Florida's 42%. State had 28 rebounds to North Florida's 26. The turnovers were 17-27 State's favor.

Miah Spencer led State with 12 points and DD Rogers led State with 5 rebounds. No one had big numbers due to no one playing many minutes. Ashley Williams played the most minutes with 27. Dominique Williams and Miah Spencer played 20 minutes. For the bench Lucky Rudd played 20 minutes and went 2-7 from the field for 5 points. Aislinn Konig scored 7 going 3-6 from the field.

For North Florida, now 5-4, Sierra Shepherd scored 13 points going 5-7 from the field. Simone Brown had 9 rebounds for North Florida.

Some points of interest: Nae Nae Cole might only play ten minutes a game, but this season she has been almost money from the field going 13-16 through the game against North Florida. Lucky Rudd got a DNP against Indiana prompting Coach to speak with her at the end of the game reminding her on doing so how much talent she has, but that getting in a game for State is a privilege. The problem for Lucky is the coaches feel she is not working hard enough in practice. Everyone can see the talent Ace Konig has although right now she seems to have lost her arc shot, so why isn't she playing more? According to Coach, she is out of position more than he would like.

What will happen as the team moves into conference play is many on the bench will receive DNP's. The rotation should for most of the conference games be 8 or 9. Konig, DD Rogers, Nae Nae Cole (until Akela Maize recovers from her injury and maybe even then) and Kaila Ealey will most likely be the only bench players getting time.

Camille Anderson is still not dressing out. Camille has not dressed our for any game this season. At some point a red shirt year seems appropriate.

UNCW

State jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back taking down another cupcake team and winning 86-54. Chelsea Nelson again showed she has no problem with players who are not as talented as her and at the same time not bigger than her. Chelsea scored 12 points going 4-6 from the field. Chelsea's game is quickness especially up and down the court. Her problem is trying to defend talented centers who are larger than her wherein she tends to get into foul trouble. That was no concern today as she only picked up one foul.

Miah Spencer playing in her house scored 18 on 7-10 from the field. Jennfier Mathurin had 17 and Ashley Williams had 9. For UNCW Jasmine Steele had 10. DD Rogers had 8 rebounds for State. State shot 53% and UNCW shot 30%.

In today's game Aislinn Konic (8 points) was the back-up point guard over Kaila Ealey. The reason would be Aislinn can score from three levels and is an outstanding arc shooter. Kaila while having speed on speed has difficulty shooting anything other than a layup. Another player now getting more playing time due to having improved her arc shooting is Amber Richardson. Amber went 2-3 for the game. Amber was a four star scout's grade mid-nineties player coming out of high school, so that she is finally showing some ability is no surprise.

NC CENTRAL

State led 42-10 at the half, 42-10! Does one really care what the final score was-especially if the team had a phenomenal collapse and lost? Does one really care who scored what? Well, we do care a bit. State 83-33. There was one good thing, and it was watching Aislinn Konig (26 points-6 threes-10 of 14 from the field) shoot the three. Everytime she shoots from the arc, one thinks it is going into the basket.

Aislinn Konig is very humble: "I think that our seniors and starters started us off very well and made it very difficult for the other team to keep up with us. They got tired and that really allowed me to push it. The fact that I have such great teammates around me that I can kick to really forces the defense not only to help but be ready to close out on people like Lucky (Rudd) and try and stop me in the paint and that opens it up for me. It's really the team that allows me to do that." (quote from GoPack)

And. You can really shoot.

So, why are we playing the third team in a row in which the game is not even close or interesting. Reynolds is almost empty. Here is a suggestion. Play better teams at home in December and during the non-conference schedule. State has played only one good team at home during the non-conference schedule, and that was Indiana. Fairly good crowd there. State's next home game will be against Notre Dame. Will the team be ready for them? It would help if the team had played better competition during the non-conference at home schedule.

State plays on the road for their next two games: Tulane and South Alabama, neither a rpi monster. Then it is into the fray. Ready or not!
