Holy shit. I thought somebody had hit the fast forward button on this game but then I realized that this team is a step ahead of real time whenever a fast break or secondary break or secondary-ish break is occurring. You could see the pressure they put on Miami on every possession tonight, whether the RedHawks made a basket or not. If they missed, the ball was out quickly to a guard, and Miami generally was unprepared for the speed of that transition. If it was a made basket, the ball was out quickly to a guard, and Miami generally was unprepared for the speed of that transition.
Some early nerves aside, the freshmen acquitted themselves well and seemed to fit into the flow of the offense. Lorenzo Brown turned the ball over five times and appeared frustrated by those mistakes, but was generally fine. Calvin Leslie was active early and set the tone, as did Scott Wood with eight quick points.
The freshmen all had their moments. This offense, man. While this team is going to have its issues at the defensive end, the offense is going to carry the team on plenty of occasions, because damn. Can we just have a bunch of transition opportunities? I could watch those all day.
