It took a minute, but NC State’s basketball staff is complete once again. Kevin Keatts added high school head coach Roy Roberson to fill the position that opened up when A.W. Hamilton left for the head coaching job at Eastern Kentucky. Roberson spent the last dozen years leading the E.C. Glass HS program in Lynchburg, VA.
The obligatory press release statement from Coach Keatts:
“I’ve known Roy for a long time and I’m excited to add him to our basketball staff,” said Keatts. “As a coach, he’s won a lot of games, but it is his passion for his players and program that has always impressed me. He has a great energy and knowledge of the game and will be a great teacher and mentor for our student-athletes.”
Roberson does not have any coaching experience at the college level, but his relationship with Keatts should help with the transition. And anyway, if he ends up being a good recruiter at NC State, nobody’s gonna much care about his credentials.
