Dave Doeren brought another member of his old NIU staff to Raleigh on Thursday. Richard McNutt spent the last two seasons with Doeren at NIU.
"Richard is one of the most aggressive and talented recruiters I’ve been with," said Doeren. "He is also a great technician at the corner position. He played it at Ohio State and worked with Mel Tucker, one of the best DB coaches in the NFL. He has great knowledge and is very detailed with how he applies that to his players. He holds them to the highest standard on the field.
Youth on the staff continues to be a theme. McNutt was actually on the Ohio State team that won the national title in 2002, and he began coaching the following season. Since then he's been at Washington & Jefferson College, Kent State, and also had a stint with the Cleveland Browns.
The lack of experience of some of Doeren's hires is a bit concerning, but this group should bring more energy to practices and recruiting, and they should be much better at relating to players.

Jason Veltkamp is reportedly NC State's new strength and conditioning coach. He spent the last five seasons at Arkansas, and he also had stops at Louisville, Utah, and Utah State. He is another fellow who does not seem to be particularly interested in hair, but he's gone well beyond the simple buzz cut. Here at BTP, we discuss the important issues.
Also, I couldn't help but think of this:

Dave Doeren done yoinked another member of Wisconsin's coaching staff, and it's another young guy. Eddie Faulkner will coach the tight ends and fullbacks as well as coordinate special teams.
"Coach Faulkner was on my first staff at Northern Illinois and he’s coached special teams, running backs, tight ends and fullbacks," said Doeren. "He’s a very detailed, ultra-organized, connected recruiter who also has great passion and pride for special teams performance.
So to recap the hires so far:
OC/QB: Matt Canada
DC: Dave Huxtable
TE/FB/ST: Eddie Faulkner
RB: Des Kitchings
WR: Frisman Jackson
DL/Recruiting coord.: Ryan Nielsen

Jackson is the second coach Dave Doeren has brought over from his old NIU staff.
"Fris Jackson played in the NFL and had a great career," said Doeren. "He comes from the inner city of Chicago and understands how to relate to guys from that environment and help them mature through the process. He's been very good helping our young men who had issues off the field to grow up and mature. I think he can also help our guys understand the reality of how hard it is and what it takes to be an NFL football player."
I guess that means Troy Walters is out of a job.

"I've gotten to know him in the last 10 days and am really impressed with his work ethic, his attitude and the way he works with the players," Doeren said in a statement. "The players have had nothing but great things to say about him as a teacher and a motivator."

Former Tennessee offensive coordinator is on his way to Arkansas to run the Razorbacks' offense. Chaney reportedly interviewed for the OC job at NC State after Doeren was hired, though I don't know if an offer ever got extended to him.
Arkansas announces Jim Chaney as new QB & OC. He had been at Tennessee.
