It's national signing day, and Dave Doeren and staff have done an admirable job of piecing together a recruiting class given the limited time they had. The primary task was keeping the existing commitments in the fold, but State also added several new prospects since Doeren came on board.
Are we in for a dramatic signing day this year? No, probably not. It appears as though this class is mostly done, though there are still a couple of potential additions to be made. Tight end Chris Burton is one of them. He committed to the previous staff but understandably opened things back up after TOB was fired, and he could end up at Cincinnati.
Wide receiver Marquez Valdes--who is over six feet tall!--is another. Valdes is from Florida, which is familiar territory for Doeren. Valdes has plenty of high-major offers, and he most recently took a visit to South Florida. He visited NC State on the weekend of Jan. 11. I am assuming that Dave Doeren is reiterating the fact that we really need some tall people at receiver, which should seal the deal. Let me amend that. We need tall people who are capable of catching footballs on a fairly regular basis.
