NC State blew a save on Saturday and got a scare from Towson but otherwise took care of business. Pratt Maynard, walkin' machine, did his thing and drew another handful of walks over the course of the series. He ranks second nationally in BBs and if he were hitting for any sort of average in conference play, he'd be having a truly monstrous season.
It wasn't a good weekend for us, though, as the Heels swept Wake Forest and now control their own ACC tournament destiny. With FSU and Duke remaining on the schedule, NC State has an easier finish than Carolina, which has a road trip to Virginia and a home series with Virginia Tech to end the season. Still, the Pack's odds aren't great since they have to finish a game up on the Heels. Those back-to-back blown saves against Boston College loom large.
If State can't get past the Heels, they at least have a decent shot at surpassing Boston College in the standings. BC finishes the year with Georgia Tech, and if the Jackets cooperate, a 4-2 finish for the Wolfpack would be enough.
