Russell Wilson Makes His Pro Baseball Debut Tonight

It's an exciting night for Russell Wilson, who'll be playing his first minor league game in front of a sellout crowd.  Some notes from the Tri-City Herald:

"I want to reach the major leagues," Russell said. "I want to be an NFL player, too."

As I stood there with Wilson, taking notes and listening to him talk about his future livelihood. He impressed me as a very serious man, one who would not take such thoughts lightly.

There's something about the way Wilson emphasized that last quote — the conviction in his voice, the directness of his statement.

The Dust Devils (Washington state) play in the Northwest League, which is Short-Season A-ball.  The Rockies' Class A affiliate is located in Asheville, so perhaps we'll have an opportunity to see Wilson play in NC next year.
