Bowl Game Salary Bonuses

Makingthatpaper_medium

This is an interesting item about bowl game salary bonuses received by area coaches:

Over at N.C. State, head coach Tom O'Brien -- whose annual salary is $1.8 million -- will receive a bonus of $50,000 for coaching the Wolfpack to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.

The Wolfpack's offensive and defensive coordinators will each receive an extra two months' salary, and the rest of the coaching staff will receive a bonus of one month's pay.

The bonuses that N.C. State will pay to its football coaching staff will be in the range of $300,000.

NC State also handed out over $325k for the 6-6 season that led to a PapaJohns.com Bowl appearance, which just seems wrong on every conceivable level. They should have spent that money on Rolexes with "Thanks for enduring the first half of that season, which, on the backs of 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 must have been quite the challenge, and oh my, you went to that South Carolina game?" engraved on the back for the fans.

I wonder what UCLA coaches got for going 6-6 (now 6-7) and reaching the Pac-12 title game and a bowl.
