Say Hello To Josip Mikulic

Josip Mikulic, a 6-10 forward with three-point range, recently committed to NC State. Mikulic joins Tyler Lewis in State's 2012 recruiting class. Monte Towe's efforts landed the big Croatian, who hasn't even been to Raleigh yet:

Scott Williams is Mikulic’s coach at North Broward Prep in Coral Springs, Fla. and he said that the loyalty shown by N.C. State—particularly assistant Monte Towe—enabled Mikulic to pick the Pack without even taking a campus visit.

"Coach Towe showed the interest and Josip is a very loyal kid," Williams told Jacey Zembal of the Wolfpacker.com. "Josip was waiting for the one school to take a chance on him. With their reputation, history and playing in the ACC, I think he was waiting on the school to take a chance on him, and he was going to commit to who was there from the start."

Mikulic told The Wolfpacker that he is looking forward to watching State's game against Clemson on Thursday. Somebody hide his television remote.

According to this item, Mikulic is among the top 30 high school prospects in Florida.  The two services cited rank him in the mid-to-late 20s. Hoop Scoop is more optimistic and ranks him tenth.

Here's what ESPN has to say:

Mikulic is a skilled power forward with great size. He can knock down open shots with three point range and can handle, pass and block shots. He is a good rebounder that could improve with a more consistent battle attitude. He must add strength and build his back to the basket moves but has great upside.

Mikulic reminds Monte Towe of Dwayne Schintzius, but Mikulic has got a lot of work to do if he's going to match that epic mullet.
