Donate To The Triangle Red Cross

What an awful day.

Fast-moving squalls and tornadoes left a trail of damaged buildings, downed power lines and uprooted trees throughout the Triangle and beyond late this afternoon.

Wake County emergency workers confirmed that a tornado crossed Wake County starting before 4 p.m. The center of that storm cell also passed through Sanford, Holly Springs, downtown Raleigh and northeast Wake County, leaving a swath of damage.

In Sanford, the Lowe's home improvement store in Sanford was leveled. There are no reports yet of injuries there.

You can make a donation to the Triangle's Red Cross chapter right here. If you're in or wish to support affected areas outside of the Triangle, you can find the appropriate local chapter right here.
