Area sensation Scotty McCreery, who I'm told is famous from the television, will throw out the first pitch at Doak Field on Saturday, guaranteeing at least one sellout this weekend.
McCreery, a 17-year-old junior at Garner High School, advanced to the final round of three on American Idol on Thursday, May 12.
Game time Saturday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. McCreery's ceremonial first pitch should be sometime between 6:20 and 6:30.
Out of curiosity, I checked the ticket situation online (Okay, not purely out of curiosity. I have all his records. Big fan.) and was disappointed to find that tickets were being sold at regular price. If ever the were a time to justify $45 tickets to an NC State baseball game, this is it. I hope State is at least planning on making "Scotty's Hotties" t-shirts available for purchase.
NC State actually had to clear this with the NCAA since McCreery is a high school baseball player. Can't even offer the kid a complimentary beverage for his troubles.
