Let me start this post by saying a sincere "thank you" to you, the fine readership of Backing the Pack, for so graciously allowing me the past few weeks off from my volunteer blogging job. I know that it was a huge sacrifice on your part, to not have a delightfully humorous and entertaining post to enjoy on the past few Friday afternoons. Oh, and I know you have missed the cheerleader pics. Perverts.
That said, I have some terrible news for you guys that has developed over the last few days. Exhibit A:
It's been wonderful fun and a helluva run, but it's time for the coach to hang up his twitter. thanks to all 3104 of you for making it so.

As I am sure you all are aware, this comes as quite a shock. So much so, that it has me questioning my own ability to carry on.
You see, my job around here is a simple one. I simply take a few minutes each day to peruse my Twitter timeline, which is mostly made up of follows of writers from around the ACC. These dudes are clever, and oftentimes they will tweet something truly funny. When I see these, I simply email them to myself. There they sit, in an offshore account inbox, until Thursday night sometime. Next step? Easy. I just write a short, goofy, usually self deprecating story of my adventures from the week before, and add those tweets at the end. I know, I know...by all appearances it looks to be FAR more difficult than that. Nope, that's it.
Now, here I sit, at a crossroads. Do I carry on, even though I have lost one of my greatest providers of material? Do I continue to write this drivel, even though the last few weeks have proven that it really won't be missed? I mean, the timing is terrible here. I sat around all Summer, with nothing to do but hate baseball and surf Twitter. Now, when the revenue sports are in full swing, my regular job is all of a sudden busy as all hell. I feel as though I am doing you, the readers a disservice by not having the time to check it as often as I should. I haven't even made a half hearted attempt at a post in weeks, and have barely had time to READ this wonderful blog.
I have simply been too busy to do it.
So, after much debate, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement as well. I mean, I could possibly do this once a month or so, but I think you guys deserve better than that. From my viewpoint, Steven and OW, StrengthofTheWolf and Tampa Pack do a great job around here, without me muddying the waters. Maybe one of them could take the reins? Let us know in the poll exactly how you would like to see things go.
In closing, I want to again, thank you, the readers. I have had a lot of fun doing this experiment, and look at you guys as brothers. I will continue to annoy the crap out of you all in the liveblogs, and, if Steven will allow it, with the occasional post. I will also keep @JamieFamous72 (shameless appeal for followers) going, when I feel like I really need to say something.
Be safe out there fellas, and Happy New Year.
