Whew. That was one glass cage of an emotional roller coaster of a game. NC State had some opportunities to pull away from Miami in both halves but couldn't make it happen, in one case because somebody decided to bank-in a three-pointer. Won't name names though.
Lorenzo Brown and Calvin Leslie were outstanding on Wednesday night, and Alex Johnson did a nice job distributing the ball as well. Scott Wood rediscovered his shooting touch from beyond the arc, and the team managed to survive a rough night at the free throw line.
After a 2-20 performance from beyond the arc in the first game, Miami hit just 8-29 in the re-match, and State's interior defense was much better. Reggie Johnson didn't play much down the stretch, either, which helped the cause. Between Johnson's foul trouble and Kadji's struggles, Rion Brown's unexpected outburst wasn't enough to propel Miami to victory.
