Cole Blankenship Commits To NC State

Well, it took a little longer than I would have liked, but NC State finally has a 2013 football commitment. In-state offensive lineman Cole Blankenship received a scholarship offer from State on Monday and committed on Tuesday afternoon.

Blankenship was a first-team all-state selection as a junior. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder projects as an interior lineman in college. He played mainly center as a sophomore before lining up at guard with some spot duty at tackle as a junior.

Blankenship is currently unrated by both Rivals and Scout, though there is this from his Scout profile:

Coach Doug Illing "Cole is very physical, great feet, GREAT WORKER!!"

Football coaches, man. Always exclaiming stuff. I guess the sort of energy level needed to be a football coach inevitably bleeds over to the written word.

Anyway, I hope that gets the ball rolling on this class. Since we just hosted a bunch of recruits at the spring game (including Blankenship) last weekend, maybe things will start to pick up over the next couple of weeks.
