NC State Football Recruiting Update: LB Ford Howell Is Commitment No. 3

Ford Howell, a linebacker from Memphis, committed to NC State on Friday and became the third member of the Pack's 2013 class. Here's what his high school coach has to say about him:

"NC State is getting a physical inside linebacker who plays real well playing downhill to the ball," said Alston, who has been head coach at the school since 1998. "He's a guy who is a quality person and will play the game physically and with toughness."

[snip]

"Anything he does to improve his game laterally and improve his ability to cover guys out of the backfield [will help]," Alston said. "He is a solid guy in the run game. He is a serious competitor and plays the game to win. He is serious about anything that involves working out. He is all-in on it."

Howell had offers from Lehigh (which has a football team I guess?) and Western Kentucky, but says that Northwestern and Wake Forest "and also maybe" Mississippi State and Vanderbilt were close to making offers. He is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals. Offer sheet aside, he immediately becomes the highest rated member of NC State's 2013 class.

And as everyone knows, you can't spell Ford Howell without Wolf Lord.
