In an effort to build inroads with North Carolina high school coaches and attract more in-state talent to Raleigh, Dave Doeren has added Henry Trevathan, Jr. to his staff. Trevathan, a veteran N.C. high school coach, will serve as Director of High School Relations.
Trevathan, who has been a high school head coach most recently at Southern Alamance, began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at N. C. State. He has coached collegiately as an assistant at Elon and Lenoir-Rhyne and had high school head coaching gigs at Cardinal Gibbons, Broughton, and Western Alamance. He played his college ball at East Carolina.
Trevathan's father, Henry Sr., was the special teams coach for the Wolfpack from 1986-1993.
As few members of the new N. C. State staff have recruiting ties to the state, this seems like a smart move. The younger Trevathan's official duties include assisting with camps, coaching clinics, and arranging unofficial visits for recruits, but his greatest value will be in helping the new staff network with in-state head coaches.
