N.C. State Lands Verbal Commitment from Jalan McClendon

What up, baller!

THE RED LIGHT IS ON! And the quarterback situation in Raleigh is on better footing with the verbal commitment of class of 2014 pro style (yet mobile) quarterback Jalan McClendon. McClendon, who gave the Pack a verbal today over Florida State, North Carolina, Miami, and a slew of other programs, stands nearly 6-6 and has been clocked at 4.8 in the 40-yard dash. He is a three-star prospect who Scout ranks as the #35 best QB prospect in the nation.

McClendon led West Meck to a nine-win season as a junior, and his commitment is a hopeful sign that Dave Doeren and staff are continuing to make inroads in the talent-rich Charlotte area, something that the previous staff was largely unable to accomplish.

When Doeren and crew took the helm of the Pack program, Pete Thomas and Manny Stocker were the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. In a short time, the staff has bolstered the position with the addition of Florida transfer Jacoby Brissett, the commitment of class of 2013 prospect Bryant Shirreffs, and now McClendon.

McClendon joins Garrett Bradbury and Bo Hines, both of Charlotte Christian, Coult Culler, and Micah Till as verbal pledges from the class of 2014. The Pack is also in play for transfer candidates Brandon Mitchell (Arkansas) and Steven Bench (Penn State), both of whom can play right away.
