According to Tweet, Florida Linebacker Sean Bowens Has Pledged to the Pack

If true, he joins 2014 verbal Coult Culler as prospects at a position of need for N.C. State

According to Jon Santucci of PrepZone, Class of 2014 linebacker prospect Sean Bowens has lit the red light. The 6-2, 220-pounder from Treasure Coast High in Florida is a consensus three-star recruit and a top-75 outside backer prospect according to 247sports. One recruiting service reports that he runs a 4.5 40, which is excellent speed for anyone, let alone a linebacker.

Bowens registered 94 tackles and three sacks last season and comes from a program that has placed a number of linebackers at the next level in recent years, including Jeff Luc (Cincinnati) and Deon Rogers (Louisville).

N.C. State was one of Bowens’ first offers from a BCS program, though he had numerous offers from second tier FBS programs as well as Rutgers and South Florida.

Linebacker is a position of need for the Pack. There are just seven scholarship linebackers listed on the current roster and three of those gentlemen are rising seniors (though a couple more will join the program from the class of 2013 in the fall).

Bowens joins recent quarterback commitment Jalan McClendon, TE/LS Garrett Bradbury, WR Bo Hines, LB Coult Culler, and TE/OT Micah Till as verbal pledges from the class of 2014.
