Illinois offensive line prospect Eric Shute has pledged to run with the Pack. The 6-5, 270-pounder from Glen Ellyn is a consensus three-star prospect and considered a top 50 guard prospect in the class of 2014.
247sports.com lists 11 offers for Shute, including Arkansas and Nebraska, and Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Wisconsin were all showing interest, so this is a good get. 247sports.com gives Shute a grade of 88, the highest of any Pack commit (even higher than Germaine Pratt, who some sites give four stars).
Shute is the first offensive lineman to commit in the class of 2014, though TE Micah Till could grow into the tackle position. And with guards Quincy McKinney and Eddie Gordon getting eaten by the grades monster, Shute fills a huge void.
