The #goacc Moment of the Week (12/16/2014)

The weekly in-depth look at the best (worst?) moments in ACC schadenfreude.

On the twelve days of #goaccmas, my true love gave to me...a ridiculous set of entries to vote on. Lawd have mercy y'all, we've got a doozy of a list here on BTP this week. Truly don't have any idea who's going to win this week, which is unlike last week when we saw Virginia Tech's free throw gaff pull away convincingly despite a strong field of contenders. Any one of these fine contestants could win this week and I wouldn't be surprised. I've also got a slightly sadder Jim Ross Moment of the Week for y'all, as it has to do with the Wofford game from yesterday. More on that later - let's get down to voting. Which is your #goacc Moment of the Week? Vote below!

1. BeeJay Anya hugged Karl Hess. Hess's reaction was priceless (h/t @_TVP_ and the News and Observer).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/thrillis4">@thrillis4</a> see <a href="http://t.co/xzYVw8ZGLT">pic.twitter.com/xzYVw8ZGLT</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> moment of the week?</p>&mdash; TVP (@_TVP_) <a href="https://twitter.com/_TVP_/status/544250586607390721">December 14, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Seriously, just stop for a moment and look at King Karl's face. It's like he's never been hugged before in his life. He has no idea what to feel right now, which inspired me to tweet this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Well in Whoville they say. The Grinch&#39;s heart grew three sizes that day: <a href="https://t.co/C5thCF7YZa">pic.twitter.com/C5thCF7YZa</a></p>&mdash; Will Thompson (@thrillis4) <a href="https://twitter.com/thrillis4/status/544252314123763712">December 14, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I mean, what sums up this picture better than that iconic scene in the Grinch? Too bad King Karl's heart didn't actually grow three sizes though...more on that later.

2. Bubble Boy Battle at Virginia Tech's basketball game (h/t @techsideline).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://t.co/1UJ2ArDK2N">https://t.co/1UJ2ArDK2N</a></p>&mdash; TechSideline.com (@TechSideline) <a href="https://twitter.com/TechSideline/status/544234338569969665">December 14, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I'm going to guess that given the state of Buzz Williams' team, this was probably more interesting than the game itself.

3. That'll be one dollar for the swear jar, Roy Williams (h/t @bomani_jones).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>salty roy can be so funny <a href="https://t.co/HKhj2k9SCv">https://t.co/HKhj2k9SCv</a></p>&mdash; Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) <a href="https://twitter.com/bomani_jones/status/543891611844112384">December 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Either that or no co-colars for a week for you, Ol' Roy. The choice is yours!

4. Belk went and Belk'd up this Louisville shirt (h/t @WillsWorldMN and @CardChronicle).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> RT<a href="https://twitter.com/CardChronicle">@CardChronicle</a>: Yo, <a href="https://twitter.com/belkbowl">@belkbowl</a>, what’s up with this? <a href="http://t.co/cVNm0xcpzk">pic.twitter.com/cVNm0xcpzk</a></p>&mdash; Will Ojanen (@WillsWorldMN) <a href="https://twitter.com/WillsWorldMN/status/543510954541998081">December 12, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Can't believe an Adam and Joe caller hasn't used this as evidence of the ACC's KEROLINER BIAS yet.

5. Flipper the Dolphin picks GT to win the Orange Bowl (h/t @MorrisonCrying).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> RT <a href="https://twitter.com/OrangeBowl">@OrangeBowl</a>: Flipper has chosen <a href="https://twitter.com/GeorgiaTechFB">@GeorgiaTechFB</a> to be the winner of the 2014 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CapitalOneOrangeBowl?src=hash">#CapitalOneOrangeBowl</a>! <a href="http://t.co/ahAT0YVfXy">pic.twitter.com/ahAT0YVfXy</a></p>&mdash; AdamMorrisonCrying (@morrisoncrying) <a href="https://twitter.com/morrisoncrying/status/542796685936963584">December 10, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

First, something seems off about this photo to me - was it photoshopped? Because it sure looks like it. Second, it feels like this picture, whether it was photoshopped or not was taken in 1983. Also, is there any doubt that Paul Johnson watched this unfold with this particular look on his face?

6. Welcome to the NBA, Joe Harris (h/t @cjzero).

<iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/O6Od1tBTBOM/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

At least he gets to play with LeBron, so he's got that going for him I guess.

7. Some people think this Karl Hess parody Twitter account is actually Karl Hess (h/t @joeovies).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>That moment when you think a parody account is real… <a href="http://t.co/gP4uJOdB68">pic.twitter.com/gP4uJOdB68</a></p>&mdash; Joe Ovies (@joeovies) <a href="https://twitter.com/joeovies/status/544576541024612352">December 15, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Karl Hess needs to be banned from sports... He has a grudge against the NCSU Wolfpack... <a href="http://t.co/Utm4GfZtSe">pic.twitter.com/Utm4GfZtSe</a></p>&mdash; J Rhyne (@jmrh_NCSU78) <a href="https://twitter.com/jmrh_NCSU78/status/544311700447846400">December 15, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Come on people. I mean..................come on. How did y'all think this was actually King Karl? Good grief.

8. Wikipediaers (Wikipedians?) poke some fun at Pitt's likely coaching vacancy (h/t @RedditCFB).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Pitt&#39;s coach <a href="http://t.co/tlC56JMLEk">pic.twitter.com/tlC56JMLEk</a></p>&mdash; RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) <a href="https://twitter.com/RedditCFB/status/543454716639051776">December 12, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

In case you've missed this story, Paul Chryst is likely heading to Wisconsin to become their new head coach, causing Pitt fans to endure yet another coaching search.

9. Swing and a miss there, Walmart (h/t @ComplexMag).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Does this look like Carmelo Anthony to you, Walmart? <a href="http://t.co/EOoH0FJpSE">http://t.co/EOoH0FJpSE</a> <a href="http://t.co/5mMyVzn30a">pic.twitter.com/5mMyVzn30a</a></p>&mdash; Complex (@ComplexMag) <a href="https://twitter.com/ComplexMag/status/544530411993710592">December 15, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Who's responsible for this? That's not even remotely close!

10. Former GT player Will Bynum is having some uniform issues in China (h/t @Deadspin).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Will Bynum had to tape a piece of paper with his name on it to his jersey in China <a href="http://t.co/ZsWJGJIaYZ">http://t.co/ZsWJGJIaYZ</a></p>&mdash; Deadspin (@Deadspin) <a href="https://twitter.com/Deadspin/status/544188772746006528">December 14, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Why not just get some duct tape and make the number 1 out of that? Would probably show up better than the markings from the dried up sharpie that was used all over that paper taped to the back of his jersey.

And now, for your moment of zen,

THE JIM ROSS BAH GAWD MOMENT OF THE WEEK!!

As I mentioned earlier, this week's edition is a tad melancholy, mostly due to the appearance of The Undertaker King Karl. Let's go to Jim Ross to summarize the game:

<iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/O631TiArzI2/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The Demon of Death Valley, indeed. While the refs made the correct call with regard to Lacey's shot, it's still fun to think of Hess appearing out of nowhere much like the Phenom of the WWE to screw everyone over, because Hess pretty much is the perfect heel referee in college basketball right now.

See y'all next week!
