The #goacc Moment of the Week (8/7/2014)

New, comments

The weekly in-depth look at the best (worst?) moments in ACC schadenfreude.

"Wait, Michael Bay is directing TMNT? No way I'm gonna see that now."
"Wait, Michael Bay is directing TMNT? No way I'm gonna see that now."
Streeter Lecka

By the slimmest of margins, "that guy" defeated the six packs of Fedora, Doeren and Cutcliffe in an epic duel that featured at least half a dozen lead changes within the last day or two. Perhaps one could even quantify it as one of the best duels in #goacc history. Moving on to this week, there's the potential for another barnburner of a matchup between several worthy entries, complete with a buzzer beater submission from Scott Wood. Will he steal the victory? Let's find out - which is your #goacc Moment of the Week? Vote below!

1. Virginia Tech is offering a class on HBO's show, True Detective (h/t @TeaBagPaulus919).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Where was this in my day? I'd have taken this class in a heartbeat over Bees and Beekeeping. Over/Under 2.5 meetings of that class before the #TrueDetectiveSeason2 meme comes up? Give me the under all day.

2. Cole Stoudt pranks his teammates pretending to be a mannequin (h/t @_JoshDGraham).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> <a href="http://t.co/7ptphsxe9q">http://t.co/7ptphsxe9q</a></p>&mdash; Josh Graham (@_JoshDGraham) <a href="https://twitter.com/_JoshDGraham/statuses/496491062413000704">August 5, 2014</a></blockquote>

The reactions of some of the players are great, but the third guy slapping him cracks me up every time.

3. The cold tubs remain undefeated (h/t @UMWolfpack87 and @PackFootball).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> RT <a href="https://twitter.com/PackFootball">@PackFootball</a>: Post practice cold tubs. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/PackCamp2014?src=hash">#PackCamp2014</a> <a href="http://t.co/I3Yhh0Ugf0">http://t.co/I3Yhh0Ugf0</a></p>&mdash; Matt (@UMwolfpack87) <a href="https://twitter.com/UMwolfpack87/statuses/495623033240178688">August 2, 2014</a></blockquote>

Nobody, and I mean nobody, beats the cold tub.

4. Professors at Syracuse decide hot lava should be the next grilling medium (h/t @hoyasuxa and @SyracuseU).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-conversation="none" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> RT <a href="https://twitter.com/SyracuseU">@SyracuseU</a>: Two Syracuse professors created the world’s most extreme barbecue, grilling steak with lava! <a href="http://t.co/INl2xxyCl8">http://t.co/INl2xxyCl8</a></p>&mdash; Hoya Suxa (@HoyaSuxa) <a href="https://twitter.com/HoyaSuxa/statuses/495341034940166144">August 1, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

First of all, that is not the proper usage of the word, "barbecue," Syracuse. Second, holy hell those professors are batshit insane...and I loved every minute of that video.

5. Mary Willingham gives dumbest defense of her reported plagiarism of her master's thesis, hilarious memes ensue (h/t @_andrewcarter@the_Jameson@awbatchelor and @wxmoose).

First, take a look at this. Just gaze at that quote's sheer stupidity.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>MW on accusation of plagiarism: “Whatever I did, I did, and, you know, whatever. There&#39;s nothing I can do about it.&quot; <a href="http://t.co/mM1RybJbR5">http://t.co/mM1RybJbR5</a></p>&mdash; Andrew Carter (@_andrewcarter) <a href="https://twitter.com/_andrewcarter/statuses/496481496749056001">August 5, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

That's the most flippant response I think I've ever heard. It's essentially the spoken equivalent of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . At any rate, Willingham's quote spurred Twitter into action, and instantly created a fantastic meme - here are some of the best ones:

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Just fantastic work, y'all.

6. Scott Wood is pumped for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, y'all (h/t @ScottWood15).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Teenage mutant ninja turtles. Let&#39;s go <a href="http://t.co/SFDWenDp5O">pic.twitter.com/SFDWenDp5O</a></p>&mdash; Scott Wood (@ScottWood15) <a href="https://twitter.com/ScottWood15/statuses/497514327432495104">August 7, 2014</a></blockquote>

Look at the excitement on his face guys! Can't you see he's so excited to see Michael Bay ruin another movie series??

7. UVA forward Evan Nolte got arrested for DUI wearing an unusual shirt (h/t @DavidAldridge@RobDauster and @wxmoose).

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Just take a look at that shirt, y'all. Not even somebody's drunk uncle would wear that thing. But even better, @wxmoose gave that photo the treatment it deserved:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-conversation="none" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/mannlymama">@mannlymama</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/lebrownlow">@lebrownlow</a> <a href="http://t.co/KuQKvT7RUn">pic.twitter.com/KuQKvT7RUn</a></p>&mdash; Weather Moose (@WXMoose) <a href="https://twitter.com/WXMoose/statuses/496825233689812992">August 6, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Brilliant work, sir.

8. This is the most #WelcomeTo2014 koozie ever (h/t @ArmstrongABC11).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-conversation="none" lang="en"><p>From &#39;You Can&#39;t Handle The D&#39; to this, haha “<a href="https://twitter.com/ExKoozYourself">@ExKoozYourself</a>: New koozies for Duke Football this year! <a href="http://t.co/9WDbVHwX3I">pic.twitter.com/9WDbVHwX3I</a>”</p>&mdash; Mark Armstrong (@ArmstrongABC11) <a href="https://twitter.com/ArmstrongABC11/statuses/495282211009359872">August 1, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

If you handed this koozie to some old guy in the Iron Dukes club, he'd probably hit you with the Paul Johnson face.
