The Beamer Regional featured some interesting upsets in the opening round, as y'all will see below. This was the only Regional to feature a 5/12 upset and a 6/11 upset. We had TRIPLE the amount of participation in voting as last year's tournament (absolutely awesome y'all!), so let's keep that trend going! Without further ado.......
THE BEAMER REGIONAL ROUND OF 32
#1. Frank Beamer celebrates a 0-0 score heading in to overtime
vs
#9. UVA Public Address Announcer gets NSFW

That 8/9 matchup with Philip Rivers as Kenny Powers wasn't nearly as close as I thought it would be. The UVA's arena announcer's freudian slip absolutely dominated to move on to a titanic matchup with Frank Beamer's celebration. I still think Beamer here is the overwhelming favorite to win the tournament, but apparently I shouldn't underestimate this upstart 9 seed.
#4. Virginia Tech players don't realize Penn State is in a one and one
vs
#12. Ryan Kelly's phenomenal interaction with Fake Karl Hess
Everyone on the court thought Penn State had a 2 shot foul, get uncontested basket (h/t @thefarmerjones) https://t.co/xEJ1NqUqrM

The former Duke and Ravenscroft player was the only 12 seed to advance to the Round of 32, so I'll be sure to contact the Athletic Director out at Ravenscroft to make sure they properly acknowledge this accomplishment. However, Kelly is up against yet another difficult opponent here. That vine just sums up VT's really tough season beautifully. I think Buzz Williams is eventually going to do great things in Blacksburg, but man, he's got his work cut out for him. Would be shock to see the 12 seed advance again here, but I've been known to be wrong often.
#3. This ridiculous sequence between GT and NC State
vs
#11. Ron Cherry gets funky!
Referee adds some style to a simple first down call (req @adam_jacobi) https://t.co/Q5wGYiIyzQ

Well, I did nail that upset call. Never underestimate the power of Ron Cherry's #goacc abilities. And, I think he's got a fantastic shot to advance here too. There's no denying that sequence between the Yellow Jackets and the Pack is one of the most absurd stretches of football you'll ever see, but will it be enough to defeat the Legend that is Ron Cherry?
#2. Jameis Winston slips in Rose Bowl against Oregon
vs
#7. Cutcliffe and Doeren compare six packs

While this hysterical 7 seed easily dispatched its opening round opponent, I think in this matchup the six packs are going to get buzzsaw'd. Honestly, that Jameis Winston vine cracks me up every time I watch it. I will be utterly stunned if this one is even remotely close. That vine just has too much comedic firepower.
