The #goacc Moment of the Week (7/29/2015)

The weekly in-depth look at the best (worst?) moments in ACC schadenfreude.

"the toss is all in the wrist."
Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Man, I still need to recover from last week's post. Even without the majesty that was Page 145 of the ACC Football Media Guide, that was still an unbelievably fun week. Unsurprisingly, Page 145 had the highest single weekly vote total, with close to 300 votes by itself. Not sure we'll be able to replicate last week, but we must press on, as #goacc never sleeps. Good ol' JR is back yet again with his thoughts on the week that was in pop culture as well. With that, it's time to vote. Which is your #goacc Moment of the Week? Vote below!

1. Let's ask Mike London his thoughts on the upcoming football season! (h/t @Dan_Lyons76).

You know Coach, it's not really nice to lie to the fans like that. You should be more like Ron Swanson!

I think UVA fans will appreciate that more, Coach.

2. Here's Paul Johnson playing horseshoes on the ESPN campus! (h/t @GeorgiaTechFB).

<blockquote class="twitter-video" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Quick horseshoe break for <a href="https://twitter.com/GTPaulJohnson">@GTPaulJohnson</a> on ESPN&#39;s campus! <a href="http://t.co/W6GEzAIdtH">pic.twitter.com/W6GEzAIdtH</a></p>&mdash; Ga Tech Football (@GeorgiaTechFB) <a href="https://twitter.com/GeorgiaTechFB/status/625725297720184832">July 27, 2015</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Why is he standing in the opposite pit? Hasn't he ever played horseshoes before? Surely even someone as curmudgeonly as Paul Johnson  has played horseshoes. Good lord.

3. Guys....just............sigh. (h/t @JDJones5000).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/akulawolf">@akulawolf</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/DerekMedlin">@DerekMedlin</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/TheBenSwain">@TheBenSwain</a> Y&#39;all, I&#39;ve found the original. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Y'all I love poking the bear at UNC for their repeated NCAA issues but good lord. Let's just move on.

4. Syracuse thinks the Carrier Dome is Sharknado proof (h/t @KelsonRand).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/goacc?src=hash">#goacc</a> &quot;<a href="https://twitter.com/Cuse">@Cuse</a>: No worries, <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OrangeNation?src=hash">#OrangeNation</a>, the Carrier Dome is Sharknado-proof. &#10;<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Sharknado3?src=hash">#Sharknado3</a> <a href="http://t.co/1XwMIot2XN">pic.twitter.com/1XwMIot2XN</a>&quot;</p>&mdash; Kelson Crocker (@KelsonRand) <a href="https://twitter.com/KelsonRand/status/624043311775399936">July 23, 2015</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Surely the administration at Syracuse knows that literally the only thing that can stop a Sharknado is Ian Ziering. Y'all got him on payroll?

5. Dave Doeren's time on Sportscenter got preempted by DeflateGate coverage (h/t @PackFootball).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Due to breaking <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/DeflateGate?src=hash">#DeflateGate</a> news, <a href="https://twitter.com/StateCoachD">@StateCoachD</a> will be live on <a href="https://twitter.com/espnnews">@espnnews</a> at 3:20 pm</p>&mdash; NC State Football (@PackFootball) <a href="https://twitter.com/PackFootball/status/626105308948074496">July 28, 2015</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

If that doesn't show the power of the NFL, I don't know what does. Oof.

6. The legendary Red Lightning is joining the Atlanta Falcons! (h/t @SportsTalkATL).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">According to reports, Frankie Grizzle, also known as &quot;Red Lightning&quot;, will take his talents to the Atlanta Falcons. <a href="http://t.co/aVdI2rGelO">pic.twitter.com/aVdI2rGelO</a></p>&mdash; SportsTalkATL.com (@SportsTalkATL) <a href="https://twitter.com/SportsTalkATL/status/625358840339529728">July 26, 2015</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Can't wait to see him running the sidelines when Matt Ryan inevitably throws 5 interceptions against the Panthers.....oh wait, is my bias showing?

7. Hasn't really been the best stretch for ACC copy editors (h/t @RL_Bynum).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The Tar Hills? <a href="http://t.co/5bMtp2WGG2">pic.twitter.com/5bMtp2WGG2</a></p>&mdash; R.L. Bynum (@RL_Bynum) <a href="https://twitter.com/RL_Bynum/status/623852961899388928">July 22, 2015</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

This clearly isn't as egregious as Page 145, but come on, where the hell is the proofreading ability?

And now, for your moment of wrasslin'...

THE JIM ROSS BAH GAWD MOMENT OF THE WEEK!!

Last week the social media event of the summer, Sharknado 3 took place on SyFy, and good ol' JR made sure not to miss it. Let's see how Rick Fox fared against the sharks!
